Dan McLaughlin coached Whittell High School from 1996-2007 during which time he led Whittell to 6 of the last 8 Nevada 2A State Championships, winning the last 5 in a row and to the Nevada State Championship Tournament 11 times. He is the 4-time Northern Nevada Coach of the Year and 2-time Nevada Coach of the Year.
He has coached for Capital City Volleyball Club since 1999 (when it was known as the Silver State Volleyball Club). In 2005, he coached a 17s team that won the 18s division at the Pac West Tournament and finished 8th at the Volleyball Festival, the first time a Nevada team finished in the top 8 in this national tournament.
He has also been a successful indoor and outdoor player for over 25 years and has played in several USA Volleyball National Championships as well as winning numerous league championships.
He was named Director and Head Coach of Capital City Volleyball Club in 2004.
He is married to Susan and has 2 children: Son Shawn, who played volleyball at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri and daughter Shaylene who currently plays volleyball at Lindenwood.
